Amanda H. Midkiff published her first middle-grade Christian fiction book, Where the Crops Never Fail, in 2023—decades after writing the story. The book was an instant hit. There was just one problem: Readers wanted more, to find out what happened next.

So, Midkiff went back to work.

Less than a year later, Midkiff released her follow-up book, Harvest of Hope, which picked up the story a decade later. Once again, readers loved spending time with Midkiff’s delightful characters, following them through heart-racing adventures and heartbreaking loss.

Recently, the book got high marks from The Banner, a publication of the Christian Reformed Church. Sonya VanderVeen Feddema wrote, “Illustrator Christopher Fowler’s winsome, engaging pictures complement Midkiff’s middle grade novel, which includes kind humor, biblical truths, wisdom for life, advice for healthy relationships, and a nascent romance.”
