ARGYLE FOX VS. CHRISTIAN FAITH PUBLISHING

An inside look at the similarities and differences between Argyle Fox Publishing and Christian Faith Publishing.

Argyle Fox vs. Christian Faith Publishing

Are you a Christian author?

If you’ve written a Christian book, you want a trustworthy publisher that understands your needs and follows the Golden Rule. While there are many options out there, here are a few differences between two of them: Argyle Fox Publishing and Christian Faith Publishing.

ARGYLE FOX COSTS LESS

You’ve already done the hard part. You wrote a book. Now, you just need someone to take care of all the behind-the-scenes publishing stuff. Do it with Argyle Fox Publishing, and you’ll pay $1,500 for our base package. This is all that many of our authors need. Go with Christian Faith Publishing, and you’ll pay more than twice as much.

Granted, it’s hard to know how the cost of using Christian Faith Publishing, as they don’t list prices on their website. However, writers who have published with them report costs of $3,500. Certain websites state that $3,500 is for their base package. Additional services may cost extra.

ARGYLE FOX GIVES HIGHER ROYALTIES

Christian Faith Publishing royalties start at 100%. However, once you sell enough books to earn back your $3,500, things change. From that point on, CFP takes 50 cents of profit from each book you sell.

At Argyle Fox Publishing, you always get 100% of all royalties. In fact, your royalties never pass through our hands. They go directly to your bank account, via direct deposit. That way, you’re guaranteed to get your full royalties, no questions asked. This is a massive benefit to writers. Because even if Argyle Fox Publishing ceases to exist, your royalties will keep coming without as much as a pause.

On top of that, because Argyle Fox costs less upfront, it’s easier to break even with Argyle Fox. (Our Refer-a-Friend program makes it even easier for you to earn back your investment.)

While we’re on the topic of money, let’s talk wholesale book ordering. At Argyle Fox, you can order as many books as you want, whenever you want. You don’t have to contact us when you want books, because you don’t need us to order books. You do it on your own, directly from the wholesaler. Christian Faith Publishing authors must go through CFP to order books. It’s another step in the process, and most likely it’s a step you get charged extra for.

ARGYLE FOX PROVIDES THE SAME QUALITY

As with many self-publishing and/or indie book publishing companies, Argyle Fox Publishing uses Ingram Spark/Lightning Source for book printing and distribution. From what we can tell, Christian Faith Publishing uses the same company. It’s hard to know that for sure, but we’ve studied a few of their books, and they are the same quality covers and interior that Argyle Fox produces.

Of course, we like our books better. We think they read better and have better covers and interior design, but that’s subjective.

What isn’t subjective is customer service at the two companies. We don’t know what Christian Faith Publishing’s customer service is like overall, but the fact that people answering the phones don’t know what their service costs seems odd.

Argyle Fox Publishing is too small to have bad customer service. Whomever you speak with at Argyle Fox (Let’s be honest—it’ll probably be the owner, Daniel Brantley) knows what we charge, and we’re transparent about every step of our process. We work hard to make sure every customer is happy, and our reviews show we’re doing a pretty good job!

ARGYLE FOX GIVES YOU ALL OWNERSHIP

Sell 10 million copies of your book? Get approached about turning it into a Hollywood movie? Congratulations! You get all the money and all the fame! With Argyle Fox, we don’t take a penny beyond our initial fees. No matter what good things happen with your book, you reap all the reward. We do, however, smile for days on end when we hear good news from our authors.

From what we can tell, you also maintain publishing rights with Christian Faith Publishing. There’s no reason to believe otherwise.

CHRISTIAN FAITH PUBLISHING SELLS MARKETING SERVICES

One way Christian Faith Publishing outdoes Argyle Fox Publishing is with marketing services. These services include a press release, short video, and webpage on the Christian Faith Publishing website.

Argyle Fox Publishing, however, does none of this. Why? Because in our experience, these rarely sell books.

Press Releases—These are effective if sent to the right people. Independent authors shouldn’t blanket the world with their press releases. Rather, they should send it to people who are most interested in their books. Who’s that? Local newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and TV channels. Additionally, send it to influencers who have access to your target audience.

Short Video—Don’t get us wrong. There’s nothing wrong with video. It’s the wave of the future. But boring videos don’t get watched. If your book video is going to grab someone’s attention, it better be high-energy, bizarre, or otherwise engaging. Don’t have a still picture with text and stock music. Without unique touches that grab attention, the video is a waste of money.

Webpage—Everyone is on the internet. However, very few of them visit book publisher websites to find a book to buy. So having your own page on the Christian Faith Publishing website is a nice idea, but it won’t boost sales. You’d do better to build your own website or grow your presence where people already gather: social media.
